Counting the cost of megaprojects

Cost overruns already identified in just six current megaprojects exceeds a head spinning $26b. That’s one of the forensic and compelling observations made by Grattan Institute Economist, Marion Terrill at the MTF April meeting.
Looking at infrastructure projects over the past two decades, she has found that megaprojects are claiming the majority of government largess. Alarmingly, megaprojects tend to overrun by mega amounts – creating significantly higher bottom lines than intended.
